About US vs Thailand - FIFA Female World Cup controversy

Am I crazy or overthinking everything? Do I have too much free time to care about this shit? I asked myself that question before I started to write about this pointless topic.

Well, I'm pretty sure everyone knows about the World Cup. Well, except for Americans I guess. Their football is playing with hand anyways. Now, this World Cup is for women. In women football world, United State happens to be one of the strongest team and Thailand is just a weak one. Last week, US team beat the Thailand team 13 - 0. The controversy is that the US team celebrated too excessive over every goal and that was so disrespectful to the Thailand team.

Here some football facts and courtesies that I know. Well, I have 20 years of my life watching football. I refuse to call it soccer.

1. A 1 - 0 win is a win. A 2 - 0 win proves the winner is well- deserved. A 3 - 0 win shows the big margin of two teams. Above 4-5 goal, the winner is another league and if it's more than 6 goals, it's an embarrassing and humiliation for the loser team.

2. 13 - 0 is a normal score in women football because the teams's levels are massive different. Women football gets less sponsors and investment than the man and in some countries, women aren't allow to wear shorts and show their faces. But since it's a world cup where all the strongest teams compete, I didn't expect that huge gap of ability. That's an enormous win but it's not honor at all. Thailand is a weak team (well, better than Vietnam team but they're tiny in football world). The US team clearly has a better preparation in every way and I dare to say that the athletes in US team are as big and taller than an average Thai man, let alone the women.

3. Male football players usually don't celebrate after the fifth goal. Just watch the match when the German beat the Brazilian 7 -1 in World Cup semifinal, they stopped celebrating after the fourth goal. They did high five and hug but they don't running around and scream like fools.

4. It's textbook sportsmanship that you compete with all you have to show your respect to your opponent so I don't complain about the score. But celebration like crazy in all 13 goals is way too much and unnecessary. And you show your pity after the match ended. Bitch, please!

Because of all of those points, when I first heard of this controversy, I honestly thought the American players were acting immature and arrogant. Well, they're clearly strong players and kind of bitches, that's all, what's the fuss is all about? I totally forgot about it until last night, when I watched a clip from a US talk show, the Trevor Noah's one. The woman represented this topic is a pretty funny comedian who usually focuses on the sexist issues such as women were paid less than men,... She usually has a great point of her things but in this clip, I was so disappointing. She defensed her team by saying "that's how American rolls" then went straight to the the feminist things. She claimed that the women players are doing a better job than the men players and get paid less and they deserve to celebrate as loud as they can because they're doing better than the man. That triggered the hell out of me. I had to go to youtube and watched the highlight of this match to have a fair point of view. The controversy itself is not horrible, I just hate the way people "handle" it.

1. Why everything literally has to be about the sexism? Why can they treat football as a sport as it is and stop complaining about the sexes? I read a lot comments about this controversy was all over place because of the US team are women players. If they are men, there is no issue. To be fair, that's true. Because men don't celebrate like that after the fifth goal, therefore, no controversy at all.

2. Why can they judge the US female football team as a football team, why they have to compare it to the male team? Why? So they could proves that women are better than men? It couldn't be compared because those things are different. Modern football (for men) is developed for more than hundred years and the US male team is late for the party and they're simply mediocre. Football for women is just getting attention lately and the ladies in US team do have the advantages to be the leaders of this sport and just compare to the other countries, they have more money and a better environment to practice. The gap between countries in woman football is way bigger than the man football, that's a fact. So the women scored in one match more than the men did in 3 years, so what? You twisted numbers for your points and ignore all the other facts. That's so unfair for the male team.

3. Nowadays, sports are one kind of business. The Champion League, The World Cup, The Copa America,... they are all money makers. The players, goods. The fans, customers. They literally called it the "market" to buy and sell players. It happens to be that the male football is way more excited and wonderful than the female woman. Life is unfair, everybody knows that. Your ass could be working as twice as hard than Jeff Bezos doesn't mean you're rich. The female players are great and all and they played with all the passions in the world, I get it. That doesn't mean their games could sell more tickets then the men. It's not like they contribute the same and get paid less and they have the right to call the men out. Your business just started yesterday and you ask to be big like Apple. Yeah, right!

In Vietnam, female volleyball is more popular than male volleyball. I don't know about the salaries but they have annual championship for women and invite some foreign teams to compete. The women volleyball players have a great chance to play and the have bonuses too (it's not much but it's better than nothing). I don't see the men have the same opportunity. Imagine if the men in the male volleyball team complain about this, my country must bury them to hell. It's double standard. There is something more popular for the men and there's something more popular for the women. Well, no one give a shit about the beauty pageant for men or a male cheerleader. The men sexualize the girls in the bikini in the pageant and the women do the same for some hot players in short with abs and beard. (That's why Italia team has so many female fans). Stop acting as a victims and blame it for the sexism in everything, it's a sporting business for god's sake, deal with it. You made history, you celebrate your victory, I get it. Sorry girls, it's not a history I want to remember. A great history is the one that Liverpool won over Barcelona in the Champion League semifinal after losing 3 - 0 in the first match, not the match where one of the strongest teams in the world celebrated 13 times over the team that doesn't even have a proper goalie. When you're good, I'll watch.

To sum up, I know I sound like a hateful bitch who hate women. I know the women players (US, Thailand, Vietnam,...) deserve better but I don't think talking about sexism and feminism is the good way to support them. The US players were acting poorly and you don't have to defense them by dragging the male team to the mud. It was like the "Oscar so white" once again. Everyone is so touchy nowadays. Everything is political correction. And when they touched the sport that I love so dearly, I just can't take it anymore. This controversy is nothing until they play the woman card. It's just a sport, leave it alone. Just leave it alone, okay?

Yeah, it feels so good to write it all out. Just another day wasting my time.
